Hardest Day of My Mission

My wonderful family and friends! Gotta keep this one a little short, because we're going to Enchede to party with our district.. and eat herring. I'll tell y'all how that is next week. :)

So quick rundown of this week.

Unfortunately we had quite a few of our lessons fall through this week so we did some street contacting and a lot of less active member work. And how amazing it feels to help members who maybe got a little lost come back to church!! After serving in this mission for just a few weeks, I've learned more and more how important it is to invite ALL to come unto Christ! Not just those who need saving ordinances performed, although they're super important, but literally EVERYONE! It's a good time.

So anyway, quick reference to my subject line here... This last week one of our new members of our branch was in the hospital to have her baby. Problem is, neither her nor her husband know Dutch or English. But thankfully, one of our close member friends speaks Spanish, so we were able to be at the hospital to translate everything for this cute new family!! (No, we were not there while she was actually having the baby). But the next day, we went to visit and help her move everything out and she asked me if I wanted to hold this beautiful baby girl! Unfortunately, according to the white handbook, we're not allowed to hold children. So I had to say no and then cried a little bit on the inside... But I'm so happy for this cute new family!!

And real quick, we did exchanges this week in Groningen!! Fun fact, that's where my great-grandfather came from when he and his family came to America. Super cool city to see and it was a good time!

Spiritual thought: Lately I've been doing some of my personal study time in President Hinckley's "Teaching's of the Presidents." The other day I was reading the chapter about happiness! Definitely something I needed to read! But one principle that he taught was about how easy is it for us to tear someone else down? Pretty easy right? But guess what is just as easy? Building someone up and giving a compliment. And that means for ourselves too. If we cultivate a spirit of happiness in ourselves, it will almost automatically be easier to look for the good in others as well!!
Have an amazing week! Love y'all!!
Love,
