Hills, Heat, and Hemelvaart

Hey everyone. I did it. I survived my first week in a brand new city with my new comp! Let me just say right off the bat, Maastricht is BEAUTIFUL!! Holy, so much different than anything I've seen in Netherlands. Wanna know why? BECAUSE THERE'S HILLS EVERYWHERE!!! It's seriously the weirdest thing to see changes in elevation when you've spent six months around nothing but everything flat. It's like a little taste of home. But they are a little tough to ride up. Give me a few weeks and I'll be racing up them like it's nothing. (Watch out Jake)

Other than biking up lots of hills, not a ton has happened. My companion and I are white washing in (missionary term for we're both brand new to this area) and are just trying to find those ready to hear the good news of the gospel. We're living with two other sisters in our apartment, which actually is a BLAST!!! I don't think I've had so much fun and gotten so close to a group of girls so fast. I'm excited for the next few weeks I get to spend with them.

My companion is Zuster Lloyd from Minnesota. (My first comp not from Utah). She's such a sweet girl and such a hard worker. Very short which is a change compared to my last comp (love you Asay). But she's been really awesome to work with in our new situation. What's also cool about our area is our church meetings are all in English! Kinda weird, I'll be honest. We have members that are working on the military base in Germany so it's a bunch of Americans with a bunch of Nederlanders...and a bunch of Belgians. It's a good time, let me tell ya. Even if it's 90 degrees outside and your building isn't air conditioned...

So cool experience for the week. As I said, my comp and I spend basically all day everyday contacting people. It gets pretty tiring pretty fast. But God works miracles in mysterious ways! We've spent lots of time looking for those we can teach, but finding them elsewhere. Yeah it would be cool to find someone who was waiting for us to knock on their door rather than getting yelled at becuase it's a holiday that no one actually celebrates. But God works in mysterious ways. He's always ready to answer our questions, but maybe the answers lie in places we aren't looking. Love you all tons and have a great week!
Love,
Zuster Kapp
